Durga Prasai (दुर्गा प्रसाई ) is a political activist and medical entrepreneur from Nepal. He was accused of defaulting on a debt worth Rs 750 million borrowed from numerous banks to develop the medical college B&C Hospital in Jhapa. Unfortunately, because of the government and activist Govinda Kc strike, he is not getting registration and permission to open the medical college. He has launched a campaign seeking the return of the Hindu monarchy, the elimination of federalism, and a protest against excessive loan rates, indicating his political ambitions. Durga Prasai is a controversial businessman who had close ties to the country’s senior political figures, including Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Prachanda who has been accused of killing 17000 Nepalese during insurgency period and CPN-UML chairman KP Sharma Oli, who was jailed for 15 years for killing Durga prasai relative back in 70s.
Prasai led a large march in Kathmandu on November 23 after organizing similar gatherings in other districts, including Jhapa. Durga Prasai strike has led the mega campaign to save the nation from corrupt politicians.
